ANIMATION RENAISSANCE

This is a complicated topic to get into as it requires large amounts of conjecture and speculation but I will persist nonetheless blanketed by the assumed grace of the reader. So, introduction and disclaimers out of the way, I have a question: are we experiencing another animation renaissance?

Many of the people who work in the animation industry will take umbrage to this line of inquiry. And they are not unjustified in doing so. The industry is squeezing, laying off and short-changing so many artists for seemingly no reason and it is crushing. Artists of are the life blood of this industry and it is impossible to have any “renaissance” without them. I just want to make that clear. What I am referring to however, is a spike in good-looking animation that I am perceiving. I have seen it attributed to the success of the Spider-Verse films and the Netflix video game adaptation Arcane. I don’t know if that is true but I am inclined to believe it.

Whatever the case or reason, it is a good thing. I would encourage all production companies to fund exciting artists with equally exciting ideas so we can continue to get more and more beautiful animation. The world needs it.
