Adult Animation Doesn’t have to be Funny

I want to be clear from the get-go. I have no problem with funny adult animation. The Simpsons, American Dad, and Bojack Horseman number amongst my very favourite shows. However, there is something very limiting about the way in which when people hear “adult animation” their minds immediately go to comedies. These comedies are valuable and enjoyable but animation can be so much more. Times have changed. Multiple generations that have come of age this century no longer hold the archaic belief that animation is a medium reserved for children. However many cling to the belief that comedy is the only genre suited to it. This is disheartening. But we are working towards changing that at Nsibidi Fables. While we definitely employ comedy. We also aim to tell stories that encompass many other genres adult will find entertaining. Adult animation shouldn’t be limited. And we aren’t going to limit ourselves.
